Along with the usual speakers which have made the summit such a special yearly event, we wanted to add an interactive and original element to the proceedings this year, by hosting a “Mediaocean of Insight,” complete with handwriting analysis. Each participant was asked to write 140 characters on ‘where the future of digital lies’, which would then be used for a fun personal handwriting analysis, and included in the tweeted ‘Wall of Insights’ with the hashtag #MOinsight. With dozens of experts contributing statements such as ‘The future of digital lies in processing power, big data and creativity’ or ‘The rise of Programmatic will make people more valuable, not less,’ it was an inspiring exchange of ideas, and a thought-provoking basis for conversation and debate.
The outcome was truly impressive. The diverse array of responses could not have been more interesting or engaging, and we thoroughly enjoyed the open exchange of ideas from so many different perspectives in the field.
The handwriting analysis was also a huge success! The graphologist Elaine Quigley has analysed the likes of Tony Blair, Kate Middleton, and Jack the Ripper, among others, and left several people genuinely stunned by the accuracy of her readings.
European Product Director at Mediaocean, Barnaby Chapman, also hosted a quick fire ‘Media Convergence Clash’ in which audience groups had 5 minutes to prepare 5 points arguing for and against scenarios across cross-channel planning & buying, data, social media, mobile, VOD and content marketing to win a prize. There were some amazing presentations and insights considering the limited time frame and the feedback was that it was a highly original and engaging session – imedia even suggested we should copyright it!
The summit happens to mark our first year in the UK market, as well – something we couldn’t be happier about – and a meaningful milestone for us.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this informative and fun event, and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
